Beacons Clinch Final CCC Playoff Spot

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Beacons locked up eighth-place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference on Friday afternoon, cruising to a 90-78 victory over Walla Walla University.

Bushnell jumped out to a 28-10 advantage and led by as many as 21 points in the first half in a game that was never in doubt as the Beacons won their third straight game, scoring at least 90 points in all three.

"This was a great team win today," said head coach Eddie Alexander. "I am proud of the guys and their continued focus to get better. It was good to expand the rotation in the second half. The consistency of production we are now getting from our top 6-7 guys is taking a lot of pressure off of individuals. It is nice to see that growth.

The Beacons (13-14, 9-12 CCC) were led once again by junior Cory Johnson, scoring 21 points and eight rebounds. Kaleb Burnett added 17 points and Luke Smith (pictured) came off the bench to post 14. The Beacons shot 50% from the field and showed a strong perimeter defense as the Wolves hit just 2-for-16 from three-point range.

Walla Walla (4-21, 3-18) had five players in double-figures in the loss, led by 18 points and 11 rebounds from Soren Dalan. Andrew Vaughan added 15 while Almonds Sebriokwa scored 13.

The Beacons have earned the eighth and final seed for next week's CCC tournament and as the No. 8 seed have booked a trip to take on regular-season conference champion College of Idaho on Tuesday, February 25.

First, Bushnell will close out the regular season on Saturday evening, playing host to Lewis-Clark State at 5:00 pm. The Beacons will honor seven seniors before the game.
