EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell volleyball team jumped out of the gates with a huge first-set against Lewis-Clark State College on Friday evening, but were unable to maintain that level, falling in four sets to the No. 14-ranked team in the NAIA, 18-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-18.
The Beacons (11-8, 5-4 CCC) hit just .217 in the match and were out-blocked 10-7, but the teams were evenly matched across ever other statistical category. The Warriors (10-2, 7-2) maintained their hold on third-place in the CCC as they hit .265, overcoming a negative attack in the first set as they had just seven kills and eight errors.
The top volume attacker in the CCC, Juliana Forgach Aguilar led the charge as expected for LC State, collecting 21 kills including eight in the decisive fourth set. Taylor Boyce added 13 kills off the bench while Abby Beaton posted 11 kills and four blocks, hitting .391. Karissa Lindner was in on six blocks to lead all players.
Bushnell was led by
Hailey Heider, producing an impressive double-double with 16 kills and a match-high 23 digs.
Amyah Semau added 14 kills while
Leah Agost finished with nine kills and four blocks.
Soleil Sands earned a team-high five blocks while
Emma Fa'alogo finished with 23 assists.
UP NEXT: Bushnell will play host to a battle of teams receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll on Saturday at 8:00 pm when Walla Walla University comes calling for the final game of the first half of the CCC circuit. The Wolves (7-5, 5-4) are currently tied with the Beacons for fourth-place in the CCC.
