Bushnell Takes Down Southern Oregon

ASHLAND, Ore.  – The Bushnell men's soccer team picked up their first-ever victory over Southern Oregon University on Saturday, ending a 12-game drought with a 1-0 victory in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

Senior Caleb Premo crossed a ball to Giovanni Agogliati (pictured) in the 55th minute and the freshman Forward delivered a sliding touch to knock the ball into the back of the net for the game-winner.

The Beacons (10-4-2, 4-4-2 CCC) were playing on their heels the entire night, outshot 14-3, coming through on one of just two shots-on-goal over the 90-minute stretch. Southern Oregon (9-4-3, 4-4-2) had plenty of opportunities, but Bushnell keeper Will Haberfield completed the shutout behind four saves.

Bushnell nearly saw the ghosts of the past few weeks reappear as SOU claimed a familiar free-kick from just outside the 18-yard box with less than two minutes to play. This time, the shot from Daniel Palomino hit off the crossbar, and the Beacons survived.

With just two games remaining in the regular season, Bushnell sits in a three-way tie with SOU and Oregon Tech for fifth-place in the CCC at 14 points. They will look to clinch their first Cascade Conference tournament appearance in eight years as they close out the season at home next weekend.

"We had a great performance and team effort today," said Head Coach Joao Ehlers. "Our boys battled hard against a tough opponent and definitely deserved the result."

UP NEXT: Bushnell comes home on Friday, October 31 to take on Carroll College at 7:30 pm. They will then close the regular season on Saturday against Rocky Mountain College, also at 7:30 pm.
