KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – It was a bend-but-don't-break night defensively for the Bushnell women's soccer team as they survived a large shooting discrepancy to earn another point in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with a 0-0 draw against Oregon Tech on the road.
Â
The Beacons were out-shot 11-2 on Friday, but what they lacked in offense they more than made up for it in the back third, surviving nine Owl corner kicks as Oregon Tech held possession for the majority of the afternoon.
Â
Senior keeper
Ana Augusto earned her third clean sheet of the season for the Beacons with four saves, and the defense picked up a critical team save as well, with the Beacons earning their fifth shutout of the season.
Â
Head Coach
Halle Meadows said, "It is always tough traveling to OIT, but the girls put up a fight today. We were not clean technically, however the mentality and toughness defensively was there. It was a hard 90 minutes, but now we rest and get back at it with an important match tomorrow against SOU."
Â
The Owls (7-5-3, 3-4-2) picked up a crucial point in the conference standings as well, giving them 11 points and a tie for eighth-place with three games remaining in the regular season. The top eight teams at the end will qualify for the CCC Championship Tournament in Medford.
Â
Bushnell is now tied for fourth place in the CCC with Rocky Mountain at 19 points and could clinch a playoff spot as early as Saturday.
Â
UP NEXT: The Beacons will have their hands full on Saturday as they head to Ashland to take on second-place Southern Oregon University (9-1-1, 6-0-1) at 12:00 pm.
