KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.  – Bushnell gave up a goal with 12 minutes remaining, falling on the road to Oregon Tech in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday afternoon.
Â
The Beacons (9-4-2, 3-4-2 CCC) out-shot the Owls 8-7 in a defensive battle, claiming just two shots-on-goal. A game that appeared destined to finish in a stalemate took a dastardly turn for the visitors in the 78th minute as a turnover at midfield pushed OIT on the offensive.
Â
Merrick Tamio drove into the box and with Bushnell keeper Will Haberfield approaching to make a play on the ball, was able to slot a pass to a well-guarded Lucas Kay-Wong who avoided his defender and fired in the game-winning goal.
Â
Haberfield finished his day with four saves in an otherwise strong performance.
Â
With the loss, Bushnell drops to eighth-place in the Cascade Conference standings with three games remaining. Oregon Tech (6-4-4, 4-4-1 CCC) jumped over the Beacons and into sixth-place with the win.
Â
"We played a good game today," said head coach
Joao Ehlers. "We created some chances and had most of the possession, but we will need to be more efficient tomorrow."
Â
UP NEXT: Bushnell will be back in action on Saturday, heading to Ashland to take on fifth-place Southern Oregon (9-3-3, 4-3-2) at 2:30 pm. Â Â
