EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell women's basketball team allowed just one field goal over the final eight minutes of the game, pulling away for an emphatic victory over Northwest University on Friday night, 64-53, in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
Â
Northwest (4-12, 3-7 CCC) put up a solid fight all night, and held a 50-49 lead with 8:24 remaining, but Bushnell answered in a big way, out-scoring the Eagles 15-3 over the remainder of the fourth quarter. After missing six of their first nine free-throw attempts in the game, the Beacons were clutch when they needed to be, shooting 8-for-9 in the final 8:41.

Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "The Beacons had a decent second-half tonight. We got the 50/50 balls that we didn't collect in the first half, knocked down shots, and broke through their press. We did a great job finding our shooters and Mandy hit some big shots in the corner. You can't leave her wide open or she'll get you more times than not. I was pleased with how we executed down the stretch, and played like a confident Beacon team tonight."
Â
The Beacons (6-11, 5-6) were led by
Mandy Sisul and
Libby Mathis as both players finished with a team-high 14. Sisul also earned four steals as Bushnell scored 19 points off of 17 Eagle turnovers. Mathis added 11 rebounds for her third straight double-double. Freshman
Nevaeh Lopez (pictured, left) continued her impressive work off the bench, scoring 11 points and a game-high seven assists as the Bushnell bench out-scored the Northwest reserves, 18-0.
Â
All of the NU scoring came from four players, led by Saydee Anderson's game-high 17 points and ten rebounds. Kaleah Madeiros added 15 points and two assists while Kimberly Carrada Sanchez scored 11 points despite hitting just 1-for-8 from three-point range. The Beacons held the Eagles to a season-low 27.4%, including a 6-for-28 night combined from beyond the arch.
Â
The Beacons will close out their weekend home stand against Evergreen (2-10, 2-8) on Saturday at 3:00 pm. Â Â
