WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Bushnell women's basketball team put an end to a seven-game losing streak on Saturday, taking down Walla Walla University on the road, 63-52 behind a game-high 16 points from
Ellis Mastel.
Â
The Beacons (5-11, 4-6 CCC) grabbed their first win since mid-December and shot a season-high 46.3% from the field. Bushnell owned a 13-3 advantage in bench scoring, and 12-2 margin in second-chance scoring as they pulled down ten offensive boards as part of a 44-29 rebounding edge.

Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "We needed one for our heart and for our head. It wasn't easy but we got it done. We took a lead in the second quarter and were able to come out in the third and keep the momentum going which I was proud to see."
Â
Mastel was one of two Beacons to finish with a double-double, shooting 7-for-10 from the field to score 16 points along with ten rebounds.
Libby Mathis added 12 points and had all ten of her rebounds in the second half, and
Ayden Krupke wasn't far behind with 13 points and eight rebounds, along with team-highs of four assists and three steals.
Â
For the Wolves (4-11, 1-8), Jaylo Bello hit four three-pointers and finished tied with Mastel for the game-lead with 16 points. Chariah Daniels scored 13 points and eight rebounds, both under her conference-leading averages.
Â
"Ellis and Libby both getting double-doubles was outstanding," added Meadors, "and Ellis played some great defense on Daniels, Neveah played really well at the point guard spot tonight."
Â
After two straight weekends on the road, the Beacons will come home on Friday to close out the first half of the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule. Bushnell hosts Northwest (4-11, 3-6) on Friday at 5:30 pm and Evergreen (2-9, 2-7) on Saturday at 3:00 pm. Â Â
