EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell men's soccer team scored the second-fastest goal in school history on Friday afternoon, needing just 62 seconds to find the back of the net in a 3-1 victory over Pacific Union College at Civic Park.
The Beacons went on to finish the game with a 15-12 shot advantage and didn't allow a shot-on-goal until the final three minutes of the contest. It was the Bushnell attack that proved more fruitful, as they took seven shots-on-goal and capitalized on three of them.

"We are pleased with the result and our performance," said third-year head coach
Joao Ehlers. "We competed at a high level and were able to control the tempo of the game. We rotated some players and were still able to maintain our quality and that directly contributed to today's outcome."
Bushnell nearly scored within the first minute of the game as an early pass from
Omar Barajas on a breakaway careened off a PUC defender to the feet of
Caleb Premo who scored from ten yards out. The goal came at 1:02 on the clock and was the fastest goal for a Bushnell player since Victor Irechukwu's strike against Simpson on August 28, 2018 in just 23 seconds.
The Beacons went on to score the eventual game-winner in the 26th minute on a give-and-go pass from
Danny Rojas to freshman
Ian Palma (pictured, above), scoring the first of his career with a hard strike past the outstretched goalkeeper.
In the second half sophomore
Francisco Cayolla (pictured, left) made it 3-0 after taking a pass from
Nicolas Guerrero and slotting another shot just beyond the keeper and into the side of the net.
To their credit, Pacific Union was unrelenting despite the deficit and came up with their first goal of the season on their first shot-on-goal of the year in the 87th minute when Isaiah Flores punched one in off a pass from Mickyas Beyene after a scrum developed on the heels of back-to-back corner kicks.
They attempted a second shot-on-goal in the waning seconds of the contest, but reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Week
William Haberfield was able to pick it off to avoid another goal.
The Beacons will return to action in one week, heading to Northern California for their final pair of non-conference games. On September 13th they face Cal Maritime in the Keelhaulers season opener. Then on September 13th they travel to face Simpson University (0-1).
