VALLEJO, Calif. – Coming from behind after giving up an early goal, the Bushnell men's soccer team won their third straight game on Friday, knocking off Cal Maritime on the road, 2-1.
Â
After giving up a goal just eight minutes into the game, the Beacons righted the ship as
Ian Palma assisted on an equalizer before scoring the game-winner. Bushnell (3-0-1) out-shot the Keelhaulers (0-1) 12-7 in the game.
Â
"We showed a lot of resilience tonight," said third-year head coach
Joao Ehlers. "We started the game slow and we were punished for it. Our boys fought hard in the second half to come out with another good result."
Â
Trailing by a 1-0 score for over 58 minutes, Bushnell finally broke through in the 67th minute as
Brady Housley found the back of the net off of the feed from Palma. Palma went on to add his second straight game-winner just five minute later, curling in a free-kick from the edge of the 18-yard box.
Â
The Beacons will remain in Northern California for their final non-conference game on Sunday, heading to Redding to take on Simpson University (1-1) at 11:00 am.
