EUGENE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University flexed every bit of their muscle on Friday evening with the No. 2-ranked team in the NAIA sweeping a Cascade Collegiate Conference match from the Beacons, 25-16, 25-21, 25-16.
The Mounties (12-1, 4-1 CCC) led in virtually all statistical categories, holding a 44-28 advantage in kills, 7-3 lead in the blocks, 44-37 margin in digs and a 6-0 advantage in service aces. They hit .264 for the match and held the Beacons to a .112 hitting clip.
Bushnell (8-6, 3-3 CCC), who only has CCC losses to teams ranked in the NAIA's national top-ten, were led by outside hitters
Amyah Semau and
Ariana Guerra, posting nine kills each.
Hailey Heider led the Beacons with 14 digs and
Makenna Mosher owned a team-leading three blocks.
Eastern Oregon was led by a match-high 14 kills from Keira Vaughn who hit .321 on the night. Hailey Arritola led all players with 21 digs while Kiauna Mack earned a match-high six blocks.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday at 4:00 pm with Bushnell taking on The College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon traveling for a marquee match against No. 7 Corban University.
