ASHLAND, Ore. – The Bushnell volleyball team suffered their first true road loss of the season on Saturday evening, falling to No. 5 Southern Oregon University 25-20, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19. The Raiders amassed 23 blocks in the match as they rebounded from their first loss of the season on Friday.

Bushnell (8-5, 3-2 CCC) hit just .043 in the game as they were met by the stout net-minders for SOU, including senior Sadie Byrd who broke her own school record with 14 blocks. The Raiders improved to 10-1 including a 4-1 mark in conference.

Continuing her breakout weekend for the Beacons, sophomore
Amyah Semau did everything she could to help the cause, posting a match-high 19 kills along with 17 digs while
Leah Agost,
Ariana Guerra, and
Matty Ladd earned seven kills apiece. Fresh off breaking through the 1000-dig barrier on Friday night, senior
Bella Parque posted another 20 digs on Saturday to lead Bushnell, who also got 15 from
Hailey Heider.
Jessie Matthews led the team with four blocks while
Kate Palelek posted 19 assists.

Southern Oregon hit .221 in the match and had a team-high 14 kills from Marin Mackey who completed a double-double with 14 digs. Mylena Testoni led all players with 21 digs while Annie Hite added a match-high 21 assists.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Beacons as they come home next weekend, facing off against No. 2 Eastern Oregon (11-1, 3-1) on Friday at 6:00 pm. They will also see The College of Idaho (7-5, 3-1) on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
