SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Bushnell University baseball team completed a four-game Cascade Collegiate Conference sweep over Corban University with 10-7 and 8-6 victories at the Hamlin Sports Complex.

Bushnell (23-18, 10-6 CCC) grinded out a pair of wins on a rain-delayed Saturday afternoon to maintain its fourth-place spot in the conference standings. Corban (9-30, 4-12) currently sits in fifth, heading into a series with the College of Idaho next weekend.

Kyle Casperson said, "I am very proud of the boys for protecting the home turf this weekend. Our offense came through when needed, and the bullpen was sturdy all weekend. Shoutout to
Alec Gums for posting up for us two time this series, and the outfield for some excellent efforts. We have to win all three phases of the game, and we did that."

Game One: Bushnell 10, Corban 7

The Beacons were able to come out on top in Saturday's opener, batting through a pair of rain delays.
Nate Rasmussen (1-1) threw six innings in the win, allowing two earned runs in the five-hit outing.
Colby Knutzen recorded his sixth save of the season, tossing the final 2.2 frames.

Bushnell scored at least one run in six different innings with the most coming in a three-run seventh. The Beacons entered the frame with a run-one lead, 7-6, before scoring runs on a sacrifice fly and a two-run throwing error to make it a 10-6 lead.

Seven Beacons drove in a run, including
Jordan Wilson, who hit his 11
th home run of the season in the first.
Kyle Casperson also hit his first triple in a Bushnell uniform in the third. The Beacons recorded just seven hits in the game but managed to bring across 10 runs.

Chase Nye finished 2-for-3 and was the only Beacon with a multi-hit game.

Hayden Van Acker (0-6) suffered the loss for Corban, giving up six runs on five hits in 4.1 innings of work. Ryan Clay led the Warriors with three hits and Joshua Miyazawa drove in two runs.

Game Two: Bushnell 8, Corban 6

Bushnell secured the series sweep with a 14-hit performance in game four. The Beacons did all their scoring in the first four innings, posting three runs in both the second and third frames.

Trailing 8-4 in top of the fifth, the Warriors cut the deficit to two runs on RBI-doubles from Nainoa Ka'ahanui and Miyazawa. Corban went on to end the bottom of the fifth with a triple play before loading the bases in the top of the sixth. Bushnell ended the threat thanks to a diving catch by
Daniel Furman.

Neither team scored the rest of the way.
Alec Gums entered in the seventh and tossed three hitless innings to record his second save of the series.

Nye wrapped up a strong weekend with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate. Casperson and
Ethan Stacy also finished with three hits apiece and once again, seven Beacons finished with at least one RBI.

Clay led the way for Corban, tallying three more hits.
