Box Score 2 HELENA, Mont. – Bushnell opened up a road conference series against Carroll College on Friday, falling twice to the Saints, 2-0 and 4-3.
The Beacons move to 6-15 overall, 1-6 in the CCC while Carroll picks up their first conference wins of the season, moving to 5-12-1 and 2-5 in the circuit.
GAME ONE: Carroll College 2, Bushnell 0
Kennedy Venner pitched the game of her life in the opener for the Saints, striking out 11 Bushnell batters and allowing just two hits as she claimed the win.
Senior
Hannah Tennant was the lone bright spot on offense for the Beacons, picking up two singles.
Emily Cole (3-8) also had a complete game in the circle for Bushnell and didn't allow an earned run, giving up six hits. Both Carroll runs scored in the bottom of the third inning after a pair of Bushnell errors.
GAME TWO: Carroll College 4, Bushnell 3
The Beacon offense got things going in game two and after four and half innings, Bushnell found themselves ahead 3-0. The top of the fifth featured two of those runs, the last of which scored on a
Faith Wayman RBI double.
The lead, however, wouldn't hold as Carroll got on the board with one run in the fifth and three in the bottom of the sixth.
The Beacons finished the game with seven hits including two apiece from
Madison Steelman and
Taylor Kenworthy. Liz Hiller took the loss, allowing two earned runs over five innings of work.
Bushnell will close out the series on Saturday with two more games against Carroll, one conference clash and one non-conference tilt, beginning at 11:00 am MT.
