Bushnell (2-6) opens conference play this weekend, taking on Corban University, Northwest University and Southern Oregon University. All three games will be hosted by SOU in Ashland, Ore.
CORBAN: The Warriors (2-1) are ranked No. 4 in the NAIA, playing their first matches of the season last weekend. Corban swept Bushnell and the University of Portland, before falling to Sacramento State University, 4-1. Both Portland and Sacramento State are NCAA Division I programs.
Corban has a different look this season as eight of their ten regular starters from last year graduated, including All-American talent Avari Ridgeway who was regarded as one of the best Beach players in the NAIA.
The Beacons and Warriors have clashed many times over the years and Bushnell is still looking for their first win in the series. Corban has won 15 times over the past two years.
NORTHWEST: The Eagles (2-4) opened their season in Arizona, going 2-1 against (RV) Park University Gilbert. Northwest fell to No. 1 Ottawa, No. 3 Arizona Christian and Benedictine Mesa.
Bushnell and Northwest are 2-2 in the all-time series.
SOUTHERN OREGON: The Raiders will play their first matches of the year this weekend. SOU finished 3-12 in their debut season last year but are predicted to finish second in the CCC Preseason Poll.
The Beacons won all four matches over the Raiders last year.
TRACK & FIELD

The Bushnell men's track & field team will be sending an athlete to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships for the first time as Freshman
Jermaine Schexnayder hit the NAIA "A" Standard in the Triple Jump at the Whitworth Invitational on Feb. 11.
Schexnayder took third place in the event with a new school-record mark at 14.45m (47'5"). It was the 12th-longest jump in the NAIA this season. He heads to Brookings, S.D. to compete at the national championship on Saturday. The triple jump starts at 11:30 a.m.
Bushnell will open the outdoor season at the Erik Anderson Memorial Invitational on Friday and Saturday, hosted by Linfield University.
SOFTBALL

Bushnell (5-6) enters the Cascade Collegiate Conference openers on a five-game winning streak, sweeping doubleheaders with Willamette University and Pacific University in their last time out.
MILESTONE WATCH: Senior
Madison Steelman joined the 100-hit club against Pacific on Feb. 18. Also closing in on the milestone is senior
Faith Wayman, who has 97 hits.
Wayman is leading the conference in batting (.611), slugging (1.056) and on-base percentage (.682) through her eight games played. Steelman is hitting .409 with a fifth-best .519 on-base percentage and a conference-leading seven stolen bases. Bushnell is hitting .275 as a team with six players above .300.
Senior
Liz Hillier holds a 2.07 ERA through four starts, seventh in the CCC. Junior
Emily Cole has struck out an eighth-best 24 batters through eight appearances. As a team, the Beacons hold a 3.86 ERA.
BRITISH COLUMBIA: The Thunderbirds (6-6) finished sixth in the CCC last season. They spent the last week in Florida, playing 10 games in a six-day span, picking up wins against four different schools, including No. 22 Southeastern University.
UBC is batting .241 as a team and is led by junior infielder Kaitlyn Kim. Kim is hitting .421 with 16 hits and 11 RBI. She has three triples and a home run through 12 games. The Thunderbird pitching staff has a 2.81 ERA on the year. Shae Sever, who has four starts has a 1.83 ERA with 23 strikeouts.
British Columbia holds a 22-8 advantage in the all-time series. The Thunderbirds won two of three games in last season's series in Eugene.
BASEBALL

Bushnell (6-7) travels to the College of Idaho for a four-game series this weekend. In their last time out, the Beacons fell in three of four games at home to (RV) University of British Columbia.
In the 4-2 victory, the Beacons held the Thunderbirds scoreless through the final seven innings and the Bushnell bullpen did not give up a hit all day. A two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth was the difference as
Albert Jennings sent a no-doubter over the right field fence.
The Beacons are batting .274 as a team with seven players over .300. Jennings (.349 – 9
th) and
Jordan Wilson (.345 – 10
th) rank among the top 10 in the conference in batting. Jennings is third in both RBI (16) and doubles (6).
The pitching staff holds a combined 4.13 ERA, the top mark among CCC schools.
Ethan Sachs ranks fourth with a 2.75 ERA in four starts and is fifth in strikeouts (23).
Trevor Hammond is tied for the conference lead in wins with three and
Colby Knutzen holds a 1.13 ERA through six appearances with two saves.
COLLEGE OF IDAHO: The Yotes (8-10) are coming off a series split with No. 3 Lewis-Clark State. Oliver Massie was named the CCC Pitcher of the Week, throwing six innings and striking out nine batters in the 14-5 win.
The Yotes are batting .252 as a team and are led by senior Alex McFarland Smith, who is batting .313 with 20 hits and 15 RBI. Junior Kris Kirkpatrick is hitting .304 with 17 hits and 13 RBI.
C of I holds a 5.23 ERA, third in the CCC. Nick Eliason leads the way with a 1.57 ERA through four appearances, making three starts. He has 26 strikeouts through 23 innings pitched.
The Yotes are 6-2 in the all-time series with the Beacons, winning three of four last season.
ESPORTS

The spring Fortnite season got underway three weeks ago as
Christian Velazquez and
Ethan Slayden posted 68 points (53 placement, 15 eliminations) in the first qualifier to finish fourth and earn themselves a direct bid to the Collegiate Championship.
The Collegiate Championship takes place on Saturday at 12 p.m. The duo placed fifth in the fall championship.
Rocket League is back in action this week with a game against Lubbock Christian University (3-0) on Monday at 5:30 p.m. The Beacons (3-1) are third in the West-Central Conference with two games to go in the regular season.
