EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell men's basketball team dropped their Cascade Collegiate Conference opener on Friday night to the Multnomah Campus of Jessup University, 74-70.

The Beacons led by eleven points at the intermission, 40-29, but Multnomah hit 55% from the field in the second half to climb back into the game. The Lions had a seven-point lead of their own before claiming the four-point win.

The Beacons (4-3, 0-1 CCC) were led by
Cory Johnson, scoring 23 points and ten rebounds in the defeat. The Beacon bench, which out-scored the MCJU reserves 31-7, was led by
Luke Smith with 13 and
Isaiah Wallace with ten.

The Lions (6-1, 2-0) survived despite hitting just 43% from the free-throw line as they kept Bushnell in the contest late, missing seven free-throws in the final four minutes. Multnomah out-rebounded the Beacons 52-37, collected 21 offensive rebounds, and posted a 36-20 advantage on points in the paint.

Leading the way for MCJU was Keilan Torkornoo with 22 points and 15 rebounds, shooting 4-for-8 from three-point range. Darius Mason-Robertson also brought in 15 boards along with four blocks, and scored eight points while Marje Windfield collected a solid stat line featuring 21 points, five assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Noah McCord played all 40 minutes on Friday, adding ten points and four rebounds.

The Beacons will look to bounce back on Saturday when they face Warner Pacific University at 5:00 pm in the Morse Center. The Lions head to Salem where they will take on Corban.
