PORTLAND, Ore. –The Multnomah Campus of Jessup University built up a two-goal lead early and they would need the cushion multiple times, pulling out a 4-3 victory over Bushnell on Saturday in Cascade Collegiate Conference Action.
Â
The Lions (6-5-2, 4-3-2 CCC) established their lead behind a pair of first-half goals from Paul Einero, and they would never trail. Bushnell climbed within one goal three separate times, but each time MCJU had an answer.
Â
Francisco Cayolla scored first, right before the end of the first half, taking a feed from
Caleb Premo as they trailed 2-1 at the intermission.
Â
Premo scored a goal of his own in the 59th to make it a 3-2 defecit, and
Ian Palma hit a penalty kick in the 71st minute.
Â
Bushnell (6-5-3, 2-5-2 CCC) outshot the Lions 17-14 in the contest and had a 9-6 edge in shots-on-goal, but couldn't come up with the stops when they needed them.
Â
"We saw some of the same issues that we have been having during today's match," said head coach
Joao Ehlers. "We need to improve defensively on an individual and collective level."
Â
The Beacons road schedule is now complete as the team comes home for their final two weekends. They will play host to The College of Idaho on Friday at 2:30 pm.
