Late Strike Leads to Another Tie

OLYMPIA, Wash.  – William Haberfield saved a PK attempt early in the second half and Brady Housley (pictured) scored late as the Bushnell men's soccer team came back to pull out a 1-1 tie with The Evergreen State College on Saturday.

"The boys fought hard today," said head coach Joao Ehlers, "and we were able to come back in the second half. I am proud of the energy and intensity they maintained this weekend."

The Geoducks (2-8-1, 2-4-1 CCC) went out to an early 1-0 lead, as Juan Mendez took a pass from Emmanuel Nicasio and found the back of the net from ten yards out. ESC had a chance to make it worse just two minutes into the second half, but Haberfield was able to deny a penalty kick from Nicasio, keeping it a one-score game.

Then, in the 72nd minute, Housley got his third goal of the season taking a pass from Nicolas Guerrero.

The game ended on a frantic pace as the Geoducks were denied on nine shot attempts over the final 18 minutes. Haberfield finished with five saves for the Beacons.

The Beacons (6-3-3, 2-3-2) will remain on the road for their next two games, heading to Portland on October 18 to take on Warner Pacific University.
