Beacons Play to Draw with Northwest

KIRKLAND, Wash.  – A late goal by the home team ruined the party on Friday afternoon, but the Beacons picked up a critical point in the CCC standings as they played to a 1-1 draw with Northwest University.

A pair of penalty kicks provided all of the offense in a game that was played heavily in the Beacons favor. Bushnell held a 16-13 advantage in shot attempts, taking eight shots-on-goal. The Eagles didn't earn a shot-on-goal until the second half.

For the Beacons, the PK came courtesy of Ian Palma in the 59th minute. For the Eagles, it came with under four minutes to play as Damian Santos put the equalizer into the back of the net.

Danny Rojas finished the game with four shot attempts for the Beacons, taking three shots on goal. On the other side of the field, William Haberfield (pictured) made four saves for the Beacons.

"We played well tonight and had good momentum through most of the match," said Head Coach Joao Ehlers. "We were very creative on the ball tonight but we needed to be more clinical in the final third."

The Beacons (6-3-2, 2-3-1) will remain in Washington on Saturday, heading to Olympia to face Evergreen (2-8, 2-4) at 3:00 pm.
