NEWBERG, Ore. –  The Bushnell University women's soccer team fell to host George Fox University, 2-0, in Wednesday's non-conference finale at the Austin Sports Complex.
Â
After a 10-3 shots advantage in the first half, the Beacons (1-2) were shut down in the second as the Bruins (1-1-1) did not allow an attempt in the period and took 16 of their own.Â
Â
Head Coach
Halle Meadows said, "It was a rough one today. We dominated the first half but missed seven open goal opportunities. We played our game for the most part but gave up a corner that they punished us for. In the second half, they figured out our game plan and we were high pressed. We need to learn to play 90 minutes against good teams."
Â
Lucy Brandt scored the first for the Bruins in the 36
th minute of play. George Fox added one more in the 60
th minute off the foot of Becca Kozak. The Bruins finished with a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal.
Â
Emily Puita tallied three shots for the Beacons, while
Ruby Daniels and
Ashley Flores added two apiece.
Lexi Bates recorded nine saves on the game.
Â
Up next, Bushnell opens Cascade Collegiate Conference play on the road, taking on Corban University on Friday, Sept. 15.
