Owls Hand Beacons First Loss

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.  – A six-match undefeated streak to open the season came to an end for the Bushnell University men's soccer team on Friday afternoon as they fell to Oregon Tech, 3-0, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference contest.

The Beacons (4-1-2, 0-1-1 CCC) controlled much of the pace of play early on, but mustered just three shot attempts over the final 45 minutes as the Owls clamped down.

Head Coach Joao Ehlers said, "We had some good moments today but we couldn't put away the chances we created. OIT is a very strong opponent and they were more efficient than us today."

Oregon Tech had taken a 2-0 lead in the first half, and an early second-half strike put things out of reach. The Owls (5-1-1, 3-0) finished with a 17-10 shot advantage including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.

Jay Jay Van Der Velde, Alejandro Munoz, and Jesus Aguilar all had shots on goal for the Beacons while freshman keeper Andre Ferreira collected three saves.

The Beacons will look to rebound on Saturday, traveling to Ashland to take on Southern Oregon at 12:30 pm. The Raiders (7-1, 3-0) are tied for first-place in the CCC and currently receiving votes in the NAIA national coaches poll.
