Seven Players Score as Beacons Roll to Victory

EUGENE, Ore.  – The Bushnell men's soccer team scored early and often on Tuesday night, taking down Linfield University, 7-3. Seven different players scored for the Beacons, including three freshmen notching their debut collegiate goals.

Bushnell (3-0) out-shot the Wildcats 24-9 in the contest, and had built a substantial 5-0 lead before Head Coach Joao Ehlers spread out the playing time in the second half. 26 different players were able to take the field for the Beacons.

"We played well tonight and were able to put away the chances that we created," said Ehlers. "It was good to see so many of our guys getting minutes, playing with intensity from beginning to end. There are some details that we need to adjust in our training sessions this week, but we have some great momentum going forward."

Reigning CCC Offensive Player of the Week Alejandro Munoz got the Beacons off on the right foot in the ninth minute as he scored on a Penalty kick. Freshman Omar Barajas and sophomores Emilio Alfaro and Caleb Premo added three more goals in the first half, with Premo's amounting to the game-winner.

After assisting on an earlier strike, freshman Francisco Cayolla (pictured) put his first tally on the board in the 56th minute to give the Beacons the five-goal advantage.

Linfield took a little momentum swing as they scored three goals in an eight-minute span, but the Beacons righted the ship late with freshman Cole Sindt's first career goal and another insurance blast from Javier Gutierrez.

All three Beacon keepers saw action on Tuesday as Andre Ferreira played the entire first half and made a save on the only shot-on-goal from Linfield. Diego Montes Carrera and Kainalu Smith also got some game action.

Bushnell returns to the pitch on Saturday, hitting the road for Portland where they will face off against Lewis & Clark College at 5:00 pm.
