NEWBERG, Ore. – Sophomore
Alejandro Munoz scored twice and assisted on a goal as Bushnell showed more resiliency on Wednesday night in a 4-2 victory over George Fox University in non-conference action.
Â
Bushnell dominated the action, holding a 13-3 advantage in shots-on-goal, but needed some second-half heroics from Munoz as the Beacons squandered a 2-1 halftime lead, giving up the equalizer early in the second half.
Â
With continued penetration and pressure, Bushnell found themselves as the proud owners of a free kick from just outside the box in the 51st minute. Munoz capitalized with a perfectly placed strike into the top left corner of the net for what would amount to the game winner.
Â
Munoz was also the beneficiary of a penalty kick opportunity just five minutes later as he scored the insurance goal.
Â
The game certainly didn't begin the way it finished as Bushnell found themselves on their heels early, allowing a goal to Kyle Revell just 48 seconds into the contest.
Â
It would take 29 minutes for the visitors to respond, but they did in convincing fashion as
Jesus Aguilar scored off a Munoz corner kick. Less than two minutes later the Beacons struck again with
Caleb Premo connecting on his third goal in as many days off a pass from
Javier Gutierrez.

Head Coach
Joao Ehlers said, "We had another good performance tonight. I am pleased with our ideas and our execution up front. We were able to show resilience once again and control the game in crucial moments."
Â
With the win, Bushnell is now 2-0 to start a season for the first time since 2016 when they went 4-0. The seven goals also represent one of the highest two-game scoring totals since the beginning of that 2016 campaign.
Â
The Beacons will return home next Tuesday, playing host to Linfield University at 7:00 pm.
