Bushnell Drops Two to Northwest

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Bushnell University softball team fell by identical 4-3 scores in a doubleheader with Northwest University on Saturday as the Eagles secured the Cascade Collegiate Conference win and the non-conference contest.
 
Northwest improves to 18-19 overall and 9-12 in CCC action.
 
GAME ONE: Northwest 4, Bushnell 3
 
Bella King (7-8) threw a complete game for the Eagles, allowing three runs on eight hits. Madisyn Leffle and Jamelah Lewis finished with two hits apiece to lead Northwest at the plate. Lewis hit a two-run homer to put the Eagles up 4-0 in the fifth.
 
Mandy Fetters brought home a run with a double in the sixth to record the first run of the day for Bushnell. The Beacons rallied off a pair of runs in the seventh on two-out RBI-singles from Hannah Tennant and Sam Silver before King forced a groundout to end the game.
 
Alyssa Ferreira led the Beacons offensively with a 2-for-3 performance. As a team, Bushnell left 10 runners on base.

Liz Hillier (2-6) got the start in the circle, allowing four runs on eight hits in the outing.
 
GAME TWO: Northwest 4, Bushnell 3
 
Northwest took the non-conference game with just four hits in the finale. All four hits for the Eagles came in the first inning as they got out to an early three-run lead.
 
Bushnell answered with a run in the second, but Northwest brought its advantage back to three with a bases-loaded walk in the third to make it a 4-1 game.
 
The Beacons cut the deficit to one in the top of the sixth on RBIs from Krystal Akagi and Faith Wayman. Bushnell went on to get two runners on base in the seventh but were unable to get a run across.
 
Natalie Dimitrov (7-7) pitched a complete game, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits.
 
Leslie Reynaga (3-7) threw the first two innings for the Beacons and Breanna Hilton pitched the next four, allowing one run on no hits.

The Beacons (8-27, 5-16 CCC) will look to get back on track as they face Warner Pacific (3-24, 3-18) in Portland on April 14-15.
