KIRKLAND, Wash. – Bushnell ended a six-game losing streak on Thursday as they took game two of a Cascade Collegiate Conference double-header with Northwest University, 12-9 in eight innings. The Eagles walked off a win in game one, 11-10.

Krystal Akagi and junior
Faith Wayman (pictured) had monster days for the Beacons, combining for 13 hits and eight runs. Akagi's three-run double in the eighth inning clinched the game-two victory. Wayman tied Bushnell's school record with five hits in game two.

GAME ONE: Northwest 11, Bushnell 10

Sydney Maurer hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning, lifting the Eagles to the game-one victory after an offensive battle that saw four lead changes and a big comeback for the Beacons who had trailed 6-0 after the first inning.

Bushnell posted one of their best innings of the season in the third, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take their first lead.
Madison Steelman gave the team the edge with a two-run hit before being thrown out at third trying to stretch a double into a triple.

Northwest came back to tie the game in the bottom of the third and added two more in the bottom of the fourth to go ahead 9-7. Bushnell rallied once again with three runs in the sixth off RBI singles from
Hannah Tennant and
Krystal Akagi, followed by a bases-loaded walk issued to
Bryana Yoshida.

The Eagles added the tying run in the bottom of the sixth, and won it with a walk-off as Maurer slapped a ball to right center field with two outs and the bases loaded.

Maurer (1-1) got the win in relief for the Eagles, going the final 1.1 innings without allowing a run.
Sam Silver (3-9) pitched a complete game for the Beacons in a losing effort.

Bushnell collected 11 hits in the ballgame including two apiece for Akagi and
Faith Wayman. Steelman, Akagi, and Yoshida each collected two RBI.

GAME TWO: Bushnell 12, Northwest 9 (8 Innings)

It was another high-flying affair in the night cap with the lead changing three times. After an early 2-0 lead for the Eagles, Bushnell claimed a 3-2 advantage in the fourth, only to see NU score six runs over the next two innings to take an 8-3 lead into the seventh.

Bushnell rallied once again, scoring six runs in the top of the seventh to take a 9-8 lead. Tennant started the action with a two-run single. Two more came home on an error before
Mandy Fetters crushed a two-run double.

The Eagles answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh, sending the game to extra innings. A lead-off walk to Steelman was followed by back-to-back singles from Wayman and Tennant to load the bases. Akagi followed with her bases-clearing double, giving her a 4-for-5 game at the dish.

Wayman went 5-for-5 at the plate. She is the first player in two seasons to produce five hits in a game, and just the third all-time.

The win went to reliever
Leslie Reynaga (3-6) who allowed two runs over the final three innings.
Liz Hillier had gotten the start and had six strikeouts in five innings.

The Beacons (8-25, 5-14 CCC) will play two more with Northwest (16-19, 8-12) on Friday. First pitch for the CCC rubber match is at 11:00 am, followed by the non-conference fourth game. Â
