SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The No. 1-ranked Oregon Tech Owls added two more victories to an 18-game winning streak on Saturday, but not before an historic day from
Madison Steelman.

Bushnell's junior outfielder hit her fifth home run of the season in game two and added her ninth career triple in game one, tying the school record held by Hall-of-Fame Elect Tiffiny (Busse) Harwell.

GAME ONE: Oregon Tech 11, Bushnell 3 (5 Innings)

Oregon Tech punched out 17 hits including two Maggie Buchholz triples as the cruised to a run-rule victory. It was another big inning that did in the Beacons as they gave up seven runs in the fourth inning.

The Beacons held the first lead in the game, going up 1-0 in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by
Hannah Tennant. Steelman scored on the play after her triple. It was her fourth of the season and the ninth of her career, tying Harwell's record which has been in place for 20 years.

Kacie Schmidt (15-1) got the victory for the Owls despite an uncharacteristic performance that included three earned runs in three innings while striking out just two batters. She gave up five hits to the Beacons including three which went for extra bases.

Liz Hillier (2-5) took the loss for the Beacons, giving up nine earned runs over four innings.

GAME TWO: Oregon Tech 8, Bushnell 3

The non-conference game went OIT's way as they scored three runs in the first and five in the third. Makenzie Staub (14-3) gave up four hits, including Steelman's fifth home run of the season, but struck out 11, including seven of the first eight outs for the win.

Breanna Hilton (0-3) took the loss in the start for Bushnell, allowing three earned runs on five hits. Hillier closed out the game with four scoreless innings.

The Beacons (7-24, 4-13 CCC) hit the road next week, traveling to face Northwest University for four games, beginning with a double-header on Thursday at 12:00 pm.
