SALEM, Ore. – The Bushnell softball team headed back on the road for their only games of the week, traveling to Salem for a double-header with Corban University which was swept by the Warriors.

GAME ONE: Corban 9, Bushnell 6

Bushnell matched the Warriors with 11 hits in the opener, but couldn't find the run support to back it up.

Erika Allen,
Hannah Tennant and
Bryana Yoshida two hits apiece while Akagi and
Molly Haley both earned two-RBI singles in the game. Trailing 9-2 and on the cusp of falling victim to the eight-after-five run rule, Bushnell rallied with two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh, but ran out of real estate.

Leslie Reynaga (2-4) took the loss for the Beacons, working into the second inning and allowing five earned runs on three hits as she walked four.

GAME TWO: Corban 7, Bushnell 2
Â
Corban once again had 11 hits in the second game but the Beacons managed just five. The Warriors had built an insurmountable 6-0 lead after four innings and Bushnell was plagued by three errors for the second game in a row.

Akagi and
Alyssa Ferreira provided the bulk of the offense for the Beacons as the hit an RBI single in the fifth and the former brought Ferreira home on an RBI double in the seventh.

Sam Silver (1-6) went the distance for the Beacons in the circle, allowing five earned runs.

The Beacons (4-15, 1-7 CCC) have their bye weekend in the Cascade Collegiate Conference schedule coming up and will return to action on Friday, March 17 when they travel to La Grande to take on No. 19-ranked Eastern Oregon University beginning at 2:00 pm. Â
