SPRINGFIELD, Ore. –
Jacob Stoner secured a walk-off victory for the Bushnell University baseball team with a two-run double in game two as the Beacons split with Corban University in Friday's non-conference doubleheader.
Stoner said, "During my last at-bat I was trying to just find a way to do my job. I got a pitch I could handle and put a good swing on it. Overall, we knew we didn't play our best baseball today so we need to come back tomorrow and get back to our brand of baseball."
The Warriors (4-9) used a five-run top of the ninth to take the opener, 6-1. In game two, the Beacons (6-5) trailed by two runs entering the bottom of the ninth before rallying with a three-run frame to grab the 8-7 victory in walk-off fashion.
Head Coach
Tommy Richards, "A lot of highs and lows. We got outplayed for a majority of the day. Consistency is key and we are lucky to get out of there with a win. It's a new day tomorrow and hopefully we can work a better process."
