Mounties Round Out Weekend Sweep

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University put the final touches on a four-game sweep of the Bushnell softball team on Sunday.

Kaylie Hoskins once again dominated the story for The Mountaineers (17-8, 8-4 CCC) as she threw another no-hitter against the Beacons for her second straight and fourth of the season.

GAME ONE: Eastern Oregon 16, Bushnell 0 (5 Innings)

Hoskins struck out nine batters, but the Beacons were able to avoid the perfect game as they pulled out a walk to Faith Wayman in the second and a hit-by-pitch for Bryana Yoshida.

The EOU offense spread out the damage with 11 hits and runs in all four innings and the biggest rally coming in an eight-run third inning. Three pitchers played for the Beacons with Leslie Reynaga (1-6) taking the loss as she allowed 11 runs on six hits with six walks in 2.1 innings.

GAME TWO: Eastern Oregon 10, Bushnell 7

The non-conference fourth game of the series was a little more palatable for the Beacons as their offense was finally able to break through, collecting nine hits.

Wayman went 3-for-4 while both Krystal Akagi and Madison Steelman posted home runs.

Freshman Liz Hillier (1-2) picked up her first career complete game, striking out seven batters while giving up six hits over six innings of work.
