SALEM, Ore. –
Jackson Muramoto posted the third-best round in Bushnell men's golf history with a 6-under 72 in the second round to bring home a win at the Willamette Valley Cup on Sunday.

Larry Watts said, "I am extremely proud of Jackson and his clean card today. It was light to significant rain throughout the day and he mentally stayed with it. Me and the whole team are so proud of what Jackson accomplished today."

Muramoto (73-66—139 (-5)), who claims his second career win, was tied for 11
th after finishing 1-over in round one on Saturday. He climbed the leaderboard by carding the only score under 70 on Sunday. His 66 was four strokes ahead of the next best score in the rainy second round.

The junior's score of 139 (-5) is tied for second-best two-round tournament in school history.

Andrew Kibbee (69-70—139) of Willamette University also finished 5-under on the tournament, but Muramoto took home the trophy on a scorecard tiebreaker as it was too dark to go to playoff holes.

Kibbee led after a birdie on the 16
th hole but bogeyed the 17
th to move back into a tie. Muramoto posted a clean scorecard in round two, tallying six birdies on the round, including back-to-back on the 15
th and 16
th holes.

Caden Stubbs also had a strong showing for the Beacons, finishing with a 72-73—145 (+1) to tie for sixth.
Hayden Lazeo (78-76—154) placed 21
st, while
Elliot Wallace (74-84—158) tied for 28
th.
Benjamin Lovrod (82-82—164) tied for 40
th.

Bushnell (297-297—594) placed third as a team, recording the top two-round tournament score in school history. The final team scores are: (1) Whitworth 580, (2) Willamette 583, (3) Bushnell 594, (4) Southern Oregon 604, (5) Willamette 'B' 607, (6) Whitworth 'B' 625, (7) Puget Sound 628, (8) George Fox 631, (9) Pacific 650, (10) Lewis & Clark 660.

"Creekside is a difficult golf course and our guys handled the challenges of the venue really well," said Watts. "We had a lot of good performances from our young players. I am also proud of Cade for coming back this week and having a top-6 finish."

Up next, the Beacons compete at the Walla Walla Invitational on April 3-4, the third Cascade Collegiate Conference event of the season.
