Bushnell Takes Down Wolves

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Bushnell men's basketball had an impressive night offensively with their inside and outside game working as they handled Walla Walla University on Saturday night, 98-80, in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The Beacons (11-13, 9-9 CCC) got career-high numbers from Spencer Hoffman in the post, and also hit 12 three-pointers as they led wire-to-wire. Bushnell shot 54% from the floor, 46% from three-point range and 83% at the free-throw line in a resoundingly efficient game. The Beacons held a 43-29 rebounding advantage, and a 24-11 margin in bench scoring.

Hoffman (pictured), who had not crossed the 20-point barrier since December 31, did so in impressive fashion on Saturday, shooting 11-for-15 from the field for 29 points, adding 17 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. Trevon Richmond added 15 points and seven boards while Stevie Schlabach scored 13 points. Alexis Angeles was also in double-figures with 12, adding a team-high five assists.

The Wolves (1-21, 1-17 CCC) also had a 29-point scorer as Andrew Vaughan led the charge, hitting five three-pointers in the loss. Caleb Golden added 18 points and Ethan Ford chipped in 12.

"This was a great bounce back win for us," said head coach Eddie Alexander. "A phenomenal job by Spencer on the glass tonight and finishing with a lot of contact. Walla Walla plays as hard as any team in conference and always fights to the end. Now we are going to get ready to get back to work this week to prepare for another tough road trip."

With the victory, Bushnell jumps back to .500 in the CCC and into a three-way tie for sixth-place alongside Lewis-Clark State and Oregon Tech. The penultimate weekend of the regular season commences next Friday as Bushnell heads to face Eastern Oregon (15-8, 12-5) at 7:30 pm.
