The Thunderbirds took the opener, 6-4, on Saturday but the Beacons answered with a 10-0 run-rule victory in the second game. Bushnell won the third game, 8-4, before UBC closed out the series with a 7-2 win.

Trevor Hammond was a highlight of the weekend, pitching five shutout innings for the Beacons in Saturday's opener, allowing just one hit in a tight contest to hold off the Thunderbirds. Jeff Fripp went 7-for-14 with four RBI on the weekend. Cayden Delozier also had a strong weekend at the plate, hitting 6-for-14, including a three-RBI game in Saturday's win.

CCC RANKINGS: Bushnell is third in the conference in both batting average (.295) and ERA (5.25). The Beacons rank first in fielding percentage, holding a .976 mark through 10 games.

Ethan Stacy and Brandon Reed are tied for fourth in the conference in batting average, sitting a .400 on the year. Stacy has recorded a team-leading 16 hits on the season, while Reed has posted 10. Alec Gums has two wins on the year, posting a 3.18 ERA through three appearances, and has allowed just one run in his last 10 innings of work. Gums (9th) and Ethan Sachs (3.95 ERA – 10th) also rank among the top-10 in the CCC in ERA.

SOFTBALL
Saturday 3/4 vs. British Columbia, 11:00 am (Livestats | Video Stream)
Sunday 3/5 vs. British Columbia, 11:00 am (Livestats | Video Stream)

Cascade Collegiate Conference action rolls on this weekend as the Beacons return home to take on the University of British Columbia.

LAST WEEK: Bushnell opened up CCC action on the road against No. 10 Southern Oregon University. The Raiders swept the series.

CCC RANKINGS: The Beacons are currently ninth in the CCC for batting average (.230) and seventh for ERA (5.97). Madison Steelman currently ranks third in the conference for home runs (3), third in triples (2) and fifth total bases (31).

Sam Silver leads in the circle where she currently ranks tenth in the conference in strikeouts (22).

BRITISH COLUMBIA: UBC (5-3) had the bye during the opening weekend of the CCC schedule are coming off a 4-2 road trip to Southern California.

So far this season, the Thunderbirds are sixth in the CCC for hitting (.309) and sixth for ERA (3.84).

Playing in just three games so far, Mia Valcke has established the best batting average in the CCC at .833 with five hits in six at-bats. Shae Sever leads the pitching staff with a 2-1 record and a 2.27 ERA, sixth in the CCC.

The T-Birds hold a 20-7 record in the all-time series with the Beacons. Last year they benefitted from three forfeit wins as Bushnell was unable to travel to Canada due to COVID related restrictions. Those forfeits gravely effected the Beacons, who finished in a four-way tie for sixth-place in the CCC and missed out on the post-season via tiebreakers. UBC would end up with six forfeit wins as part of their 18-12 fifth-place record.

TRACK & FIELD
Saturday 3/4 at Linfield

The outdoor season gets underway on Saturday as the Beacons compete at the Erik Anderson Linfield Icebreaker. Falling before the beginning of the official start of the NAIA outdoor season (as it coincides with NAIA Indoor nationals), athletes are unable to qualify for the CCC or NAIA championships this weekend, but they marks are still used to qualify for other regular-season meets and any school records would count.
