Beacons Fall in CCC Quarterfinals

SPRINGFIELD, Ore.  – No. 15 College of Idaho came away with a 2-0 victory over the Bushnell University women's soccer team in Monday evening's Cascade Collegiate Conference Quarterfinal match at the Les Schwab Sports Park.

Head Coach Halle Meadows said, "It was a hard fought battle from the first whistle to the last. The girls not only showed up once, but twice this year, and competed with a top-ranked school in the nation. Our goal this year was to make playoffs and we did that. This team exceeded expectations and I'm so proud of how well they did this season. We will be taking a few days off and then we start getting to work for next year. Go Beacs!"

The Yotes got on the scoreboard in the 21st minute on a goal from Gianna Yslava and took the 1-0 advantage into the break. Maddie Smith made it a 2-0 lead with an 84th-minute score to seal the quarterfinal victory.

The College of Idaho (17-1-1, 12-0 CCC) extended its win streak to 16, recording their 12th consecutive shutout. The Yotes have not given up a goal since Sept. 15.

The Beacons were outshot 12-4 on the match. Emily Puita and Sydney Petersen each had a shot on frame. Lexi Bates tallied three saves as the Yotes were held to five shots on goal.

Bushnell, who was playing in its first conference playoff game in seven years, finishes the 2023 season with a 5-8-3 overall record and 4-5-3 mark in conference play.
