EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell University women's basketball team picked up a win in their home opener, defeating Linfield University, 59-46, in the Morse Center on Saturday evening.

Bushnell (2-2) led by as many as 17 points in the contest, getting out to a 49-32 advantage with six and a half minutes remaining in the third quarter. Linfield (0-2) held Bushnell scoreless for the rest of the period, narrowing the margin to seven, 49-42, early in the fourth.
The Beacons made just one basket in the fourth, but were steady at the free throw line, making 8-of-10, while holding the Wildcats to six points in the period. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

The Beacon defense held the Wildcats to 30.5% shooting on the night. Linfield finished with a 13-6 advantage in offensive boards but managed just seven second-chance points.
Bushnell shot 42.6% from the field, and attempted just six three-pointers, making two of them.

Aspen Slifka led all scorers with 16 points and five steals, going 8-for-10 at the free throw line.
Libby Mathis finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, while
Ayden Krupke recorded 10 points.
Liv Tjoelker posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Ella Koebelin led the Wildcats with 15 points.
