CALDWELL, Idaho – The Bushnell volleyball team fell to the College of Idaho on Saturday evening in four sets, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17. The stage is set for a big final weekend as the Beacons battle for a home playoff game.
Â
"This is always a tough road trip," said head coach
Jason Corwin. "CI played a solid game start-to-finish. We need to improve on our consistency for the final league matches next weekend. There is a lot on the line for us and we know we are up for the challenge."
Â
The Beacons (14-10, 12-8) head into their final two regular-season games next weekend in a tie for fifth-place in the CCC. Bushnell has secured a spot in the CCC tournament play-in games on November 7, and will clinch the opportunity to host one of those games with one win. Â
Â
As for Saturday's match, Bushnell was led by 12 kills from senior
Halle Neumann who jumped from fourth to second on the Beacon's all-time kills list with 887. That puts her within striking distance of the career record of 922, held by Janel Fetters (2010-2013).
Â
Brooke Silvernail and
Matty Ladd posted nine kills apiece with the latter hitting .286 as she had just one attacking error.
Bella Parque also had a stand-out night in the backrow, collecting a match-high 27 digs to average nearly seven per set.
Â
The Beacons return home next weekend to close out the regular season, beginning with a clash against Oregon Tech at 7:00 pm on Friday. Â
