PORTLAND, Ore. –  The visiting Bushnell University women's basketball team posted a strong showing on both ends of the floor in a 72-50 win over Warner Pacific University in Friday's Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball contest.
Â
Bushnell (11-6, 8-4 CCC) led 22-20 after a high-scoring first quarter but pulled away in the second after holding Warner Pacific (1-17, 1-11) to seven points. The Beacons ended the period on an 18-0 run to take a 43-27 advantage into the break. The sides combined for just 10 points in the third quarter, but the Bushnell offense got back on track in the fourth to take the 72-50 road win.

Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "I love how we are defending. Our press was a little spotty at the start of the game, but we tightened it up and defended really well in both the full court and in the half court. We were dominant defensively which helped us through the dry spells offensively."
Â
The Beacons held the Knights to 38.6% shooting on the night, including 2-of-15 from beyond the arc. The sides combined for 51 turnovers on the game.
Â
"Now can we clean up the turnovers, said Meadors. "If we can get organized, get structured going in our formations offensively and calm down a little bit in that area, then our players make plays, our shooters make shots and good things will happen for us. We have to battle through it until our offense meets up with our defense."
Â
As a team, Bushnell shot 53.7% from the field, making 8-of-14 from three-point range.
Bella Pedrojetti led the offense, finishing with 16 points. Pedrojetti made 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Aly Mirabile added 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting, while
Aspen Slifka recorded 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Â
The Knights were led by Emily Brown, who finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Amalya Sales added 12 points, seven assists and four steals.
Â
Up next, Bushnell takes on Multnomah on Saturday at 3 p.m.
