SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – With the total game time totaling just over two hours for both games combined, the Bushnell softball team took care of business on Friday afternoon with a pair of 8-0 run-rule sweeps of Warner Pacific University in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

For the Beacons (10-26, 7-14 CCC) it was their first back-to-back shutouts in ten years and their first consecutive run-rule wins in 13 seasons. It was the first time in school history that they accomplished either feat in Cascade Collegiate Conference competition. Â

With the losses, Warner Pacific moved to 5-29 on the season and 3-20 in CCC action.

Game One: Bushnell 8, Warner Pacific 0 (5 Innnings)

Deuces were wild in game one for starting pitcher
Sam Silver (5-10). The junior threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out two batters. Meanwhile, at the plate, Silver (pictured) collected two hits, had two RBI as well as two stolen bases.

Bushnell collected 12 hits in the game with Silver,
Krystal Akagi,
Suzi Krstic,
Anabel Mendez, and
Jordan Kuykendall each posting a pair of hits. For Mendez, a first-inning triple led to the first of three runs scored.

The final blow was delivered by the pinch-hitting
Bryana Yoshida, who hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Beacons the eight-run lead.

Game Two: Bushnell 8, Warner Pacific 0 (6 Innings)

Maddi Steelman was the hero in the second game, collecting three hits, including the game-winner with a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth, scoring
Alyssa Ferreira for the victory. Ferreira added a pair of hits, while Mendez went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI double in the first inning.

Aliyah Kelly (4-12) scattered six hits in her complete-game shutout effort in the circle. It was the second complete-game shutout of the season for the freshman.

Bushnell and Warner Pacific are scheduled to play two more games on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 am. The first game will be a conference contest while game-four of the series in a non-conference affair. Â
