Box Score 1 SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Bushnell bounced back from a 4-3 loss to the University of British Columbia in Friday's opener with a 5-4 win in the nightcap as
Jameson Hussey hit a two-run walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Beacons to a victory at the Hamlin Sports Complex.

"I'm glad I was able to help the team out in the second game," said Hussey. "Our pitching did a great job all day long to keep us in the game and we fought until the very end. It just goes to show that we may be down but are never out."

Hussey makes history, recording the first walk-off for the Beacons in the NAIA-era. The winning moment came with two outs in the bottom of the ninth as Hussey lined a shot down the left field line. The split moves Bushnell to 10-32 overall and 8-10 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

The University of British Columbia (19-20, 6-7 CCC) had a comeback of its own in the opener, finding two runs in the top of the ninth to seal the win.

The Beacons held a slim two-run lead for most of the contest, bringing a 3-1 advantage into the seventh. The Thunderbirds scored three runs in the final two frames to pick up the win in the opener.

Abbott Haffar had a strong outing for the Beacons, allowing one run on six hits.
Reece Carganilla,
Kyle Casperson and
Jeff Fripp each drove in a run.

Adam Khan (2-1) pitched 1.2 innings of relief for the Thunderbirds, allowing just one hit, earning the win with the ninth-inning comeback. Vicarte Domingo recorded the save with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.

Game Two: Bushnell 5, British Columbia 4

The nightcap was another tight contest that saw four lead changes.

Dylan Carson tied the game at 1-1 with deep shot to center field to record his first home run of the season. Hino singled down the right field line to bring the lead to 2-1.

The Thunderbirds held the Beacons scoreless through the next six innings, scoring three runs of their own to take a 4-2 lead into the ninth.

The ninth inning heroics started with another hit from Hino to get a runner on.
Brendan Frazier was hit by a pitch for the second time in the game before
Brandon Reed hit a two-out double down the left field line to bring in Hino. Hussey's two-out walk-off single brought home Frazier and
Dylan Martin, who pinch ran for Reed, and the celebration ensued.

Adam Sabatino got the start for the Beacons, going six innings. He allowed two earned runs on nine hits.
Jayden Soriano (1-2) grabbed the win, pitching three scoreless innings of relief to cap off a solid day for the Beacons on the mound.

The Beacons and Thunderbirds finish off the series on Saturday with game one set for 11 a.m.
