Beacons Fall at Evergreen to Close Season

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Evergreen State College cruised to a 95-73 victory over visiting Bushnell University on Saturday night in Cascade Collegiate Conference action to conclude the 2021-22 men's basketball season for the Beacons.
 
Head Coach Eddie Alexander said, "Tough way to end the season. Tonight was more about our seniors and letting them know how much we appreciate them. Their work ethic each day in practice will be a standard by which we move forward."
 
Evergreen (4-22, 4-18 CCC) led by as much as 13 points in the first half and took a 45-35 lead into halftime. The Geoducks carried that momentum into the second half, opening the period with a 22-8 run to go up 67-43. They continued to extend their advantage, leading by as many as 30 points with under three minutes to go.             
 
Keishon Dawkins scored 15 of his 22 points in the first half and added seven rebounds on the night. Stevie Schlabach recorded 18 points on 8-for-14 shooting. Drayton Caoile finished with eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Nico Wolff added six points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Eric Marbley posted a career-high seven points in his final game with the Beacons.
 
Bushnell shot 37.8% from the floor on the night, making just 3-of-28 from beyond the arc. The Beacons finished with a 42-38 edge in rebounds.
 
LaBrandon Price and Austin Curry finished with 28 points apiece for the Geoducks. Price shot 5-for-9 from beyond the arc, grabbed eight rebounds and had four steals. Curry added seven rebounds and six assists to his 28-point performance. Evergreen shot 49.3% from the field, making 36.8% of attempts from three-point range.
 
Bushnell concludes the 2021-22 season with a 9-20 overall record and 7-15 mark in conference play.
