GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Bushnell men's soccer team busted a seven-game losing streak on Friday, grabbing their second Cascade Collegiate Conference win of the season in 2-1 victory over the University of Providence.
Â
The Beacons (4-9-1, 2-7 CCC) were in control for most of the afternoon, finishing with a 16-6 shot advantage. Providence (0-8-1, 0-6-1) took five shots-on-goal to six for the visitors.
Diego Montes Carrera picked up the win between the pipes, recording four saves.
Â
Bushnell got on the board early, as
Jorge Lopez (pictured) scored on a header in the 23rd minute, perfectly timing a corner kick from
Alejandro Munoz.
Â
It was a set piece that allowed the Argos to tie things up just four minutes later as a free-kick from Mika Lankhof found the head of Tomeu Nebot, striking home the equalizer.
Â
Then, in the 54th minute,
Caleb Burke collected his own rebound and fired home the game-winner. It was the tenth goal of the year for the sophomore, expanding his school single-season record.

Head Coach
Joao Ehlers said, "I am very pleased with our performance today. We played with a lot of intensity and energy for 90 minutes. We were able to minimize risks by controlling the game and keeping possession in our attacking half. I am glad to see Burke and Jorge on the scoreboard again and I am very proud of everyone's efforts today."
Â
Bushnell wraps up their road schedule on Saturday, traveling to Billings to take on Rocky Mountain (6-5-1, 4-4) at 7:00 pm local time (6:00 pm PST).
