Warriors Shut Out Beacons

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The visiting Bushnell University women's soccer team was shut out 4-0 by William Jessup in Saturday's non-conference contest at Jessup Field.

Bushnell (1-1) trailed just 1-0 at the break, but a 20-0 shots advantage by William Jessup (1-2) in the second half propelled the Warriors to their first win of the season.

The Warriors got on the scoreboard in the 20th minute when Kye Johnson, who finished with two goals and an assist, sent a pass across the box to Nadia Vazquez who tapped in a shot at the goal line for the 1-0 lead.

The Beacons got off four shots in a span of two minutes, including a 31st-minute attempt from Jamie Figueredo that hit the cross bar, but were unable to get by Warriors' goalkeeper Rachel Cooper-Huber. Bushnell took all seven of its shots in the first half, led by Trinity Hazelitt's two attempts.

William Jessup found the net three times in the second half, starting with a goal from Johnson less than five minutes in. Johnson scored her second in the 72nd minute followed by a goal from Lauren (McDougal) Case two minutes later.

Anabel Mendez recorded 10 saves for the Beacons. Blake Danna, Dejah Wallot, Faith Palmer and Hazelitt each recorded a shot on goal.

Bushnell continues its California road trip with a match at Simpson University on Monday at 1 p.m.
