EUGENE, Ore. – Simpson University scored a trio of second-half goals on Saturday to knock off Bushnell University men's soccer at Les Schwab Sports Park to grab their first win of the season, 3-0.
The Beacons (0-3) were unable to capitalize on their sporadic opportunities as they were outshot by Simpson (1-2), 24-9 and were held without a shot-on-goal.
Simpson broke through in the 58th minute with the game winner on a breakaway, and added the first insurance strike three minutes later on an empty-net rebound. They went on to increase the lead in the 79th minute on a loose-ball scrum after a corner kick.
Associate Head Coach
Erik Carrazco said, "Obviously this wasn't the result we wanted to end the preseason with. I don't think we played our best soccer. We didn't execute our game plan and our style of soccer and we are going to use the next two days before going to Montana to clean some stuff up and we look to go into conference play ready and eager to get that first victory."
Bushnell will open Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Friday, traveling to take on Carroll College. They will follow with a visit to Walla Walla University on Sunday.
