Beacons Fall to Bruins, 2-1

NEWBERG, Ore. - With all scoring coming over the final 45 minutes, the Bushnell men's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to George Fox University on Wednesday night, 2-1.

The Bruins (1-0) held a 15-6 advantage in shots and kept Beacon keeper Julian Hernandez busy as the senior collected five saves in the contest.

GFU was the first team on the scoreboard, posting a goal just two minutes into the second half.

Bushnell got that score back almost immediately as they were awarded a penalty kick after a illegal tackle. Freshman Joshua Ishizaka (pictured) was the recipient of the opportunity and he succeeded, finding the back of the net to make it 1-1.

George Fox, however, was able to put the decisive mark on the tally in the 61st minute and held on for the win.

Head Coach Will Hander said, "The score doesn't show it but we made some great strides tonight. We still have alot of stuff to work and but we are improving each day and that is what matters right now."

The Beacons (0-2) will regroup and be back in action on Saturday, September 11 as they come home to face Simpson University at 1:00 pm.
