EUGENE, Ore. – The Bushnell men's basketball team has released their schedule for the upcoming season, which features seven non-conference games, two exhibitions, and a packed 22-game Cascade Collegiate Conference slate.
Â
Head Coach
Eddie Alexander said, "This year's schedule puts us in a great position to be prepared for the CCC and hopefully establish ourselves nationally. We have put a lot of work into our scheduling for the upcoming and future years. It is our hope to push our program with regards to the level of competition we play in the non-conference, while continuing to compete at a high level in one of the top conferences nationally. Our two non-conference California trips, NCAA DII exhibitions, and our home game against Carroll College are key games this preseason. We are extremely excited about our team and the work they have put in over the summer to prepare for the upcoming year."
Â
Bushnell opens the season with a strong test on November 5, traveling to face William Jessup University. The Warriors were on the bubble for the NAIA tournament last season and sat just outside the Top-25 in the final national coaches poll. The opening trek into Northern California will conclude with a battle against Menlo College on November 6.
Â
A road game against Willamette University on November 9 serves as a prelude to the Beacons exhibition at NCAA Division II Northwest Nazarene University on November 13.
Â
The Beacons will host their first NAIA-tournament qualifier from last season on November 19 when they open the Beacon Classic against Carroll College. They also face Pacific Union College the following evening.
Â
Northern California will once again be the destination in December as the team hits up California Pacific Conference perennial powers UC Merced on December 11 and Cal Martime on December 12. The final non-conference battle will take place one week later as Bushnell visits NCAA Division II Central Washington University for an exhibition.
Â
As always the Beacons will need to be battle-tested for their foray into the Cascade Collegiate Conference, which will open up against CCC Spring Champion Corban University on November 23 in Salem.
Â
The turn of the calendar will bring the first conference home games of the season as Bushnell takes on The College of Idaho on December 31 and Eastern Oregon on January 1.
Â
Also looming large on the schedule will be the home-and-home with Lewis-Clark State College, whom the Beacons will face within CCC action for the first time. The Warriors won the Winter CCC championship last season and ended the year ranked No. 4 in the NAIA.
