EUGENE, Ore. – Having already produced one of the most prolific blocking careers in school history, senior
Natalie Martin had another career night on Friday, leading the Bushnell volleyball team to a sweep of Warner Pacific and their four straight victory, 25-16, 25-19, 25-12.
The Beacons (12-5, 8-5 CCC) kept pace with Oregon Tech and moved one game ahead of Lewis-Clark state in the three-way battle for the final two Cascade Collegiate Conference playoff spots.
Martin broke the Bushnell single-match record by hitting .826 on the night, collecting 19 kills and no errors. She also added eight blocks in a thoroughly dominating performance.
The Beacons dominated in every aspect of play, hitting .373 while holding the Knights to a .143 clip. Bushnell had a 47-36 margin in digs, and out-blocked WPU 10-0.
Sophomore
Jessica Northcutt also went without an attack error in another impressive showing, grabbing 14 kills and two blocks as she hit .583.
Makenna Northern produced 39 assists, averaging 13 per set and added seven digs while
Callie Wilkins led all players with 14 digs.
The Knights (2-11, 2-11) were led on offense by Grace Buchanan with 13 kills. Matalasi Laban had 25 assists while Mercedes Massey led the team with ten digs. Alohilani Keola was strong, hitting .313 with six kills and nine digs.
The Beacons and Warner Pacific will clash one more time, closing out the regular season tomorrow at 6:00 pm. A win for the Beacons will clinch a return trip to the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament, and will give them their highest finish ever in conference.
