KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Sophomore
Aspen Slifka scored a game-high 16 points and hit four three-pointers, lifting the Bushnell women's basketball team to a 68-57 victory over Oregon Tech on Saturday afternoon.
Â
Bushnell dominated on defense, holding the Owls to 27% shooting including an 8-for-38 second half, and produced a fluid offense as they posted 18 assists on 24 made field goals.
Â
"Our defense got better today," said head coach
Chad Meadors. "The girls were not happy with the way we played on Friday and they spent some time on their own as a group and watched game film in the evening and again in the morning. It shows how important it is to them. We walked in there and they knew they needed to step up and focus in on some of the components that we have been struggling with.
Â
"Rebounding, taking charges, and sharing the ball have been making our team go the last few years, and we were able to improve in those areas tonight."
Â
Slifka was 5-for-12 from the field, including a 4-for-6 night from outside. She added a team-high nine rebounds as the team was only out-rebounded by two, 47-45, a drastic improvement.
Morgan McKinney and
Sarah Reinecker added ten points each while
Kaylen Kamelamela added ten points, seven assists, three steals, and two blocks.
Â
Oregon Tech (1-1, 1-1 CCC) was led by Abby Kreiser who flirted with a triple-double, scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Melissa Lee came off the bench to score 12 points and seven boards.
Â
The Beacons (2-2, 1-1) come home on Friday when they will face Multnomah University at 2:00 pm.
