KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Opening on an 18-2 run and never looking back, Oregon Tech remained undefeated on Saturday with an 89-68 victory over the Beacons in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
Â
The Owls shot 54% from the field and the Beacons hit 46%, but the visitors were never able to climb within single-digits after spotting OIT with the daunting early lead.
Â
Head Coach
Eddie Alexander said, "I am proud of how we fought to get back within 13 in the second half, but we were unable to get over the hump. We dug ourselves too big of a hole in the first half, coming out flat and not as aggressive as we had planned. We look forward to next weekend and getting back on the court at home."
Â
The hot start from Oregon Tech allowed them to build a 47-26 lead at halftime over a Beacons' side who only shot 34.6%
Â
The pace was even in the second half as each team scored 42 points in the final frame. The Beacons shot 58% from the floor which was a game-high but wasn't enough for them to pull off an incredible comeback.
Â
Kaden Sand was a key to that great shooting performance for Bushnell as he had a game-high 23 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-3 from three-point range.
Logan Sand was the only other player in double-figures, scoring ten.
Â
Oregon Tech (2-0) had four players in double digits, led by 15 from Harrison Steiger. Erik Fraser came off the bench to score 11 while Garret Albrecht and Kaison Faust scored ten apiece.
Â
Bushnell (0-2) will be back in Eugene, playing in the Morse Event Center for the first time in over a year on Friday afternoon as they host Multnomah University.
