Schlabach Scores Career-High 35, Yotes Claim OT Victory

EUGENE, Ore. – Stevie Schlabach recorded a career-high 35 points as Bushnell University battled from start to finish in a 81-76 overtime loss to visiting No. 18 College of Idaho on Friday night in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball action.

Head Coach Eddie Alexander said, "It was a great battle tonight. I'm proud of how we fought through our rebounding struggles defensively and our turnovers. Despite all of our mistakes, we still had a lead with four seconds to go against the number 18 team in the country. I could not be prouder of a group of young men who continue to fight and give all of themselves to our mission."

The Beacons held a 68-66 lead with four seconds to go in regulation before the College of Idaho's Drew Wyman tied it up at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. The Yotes went 6-for-8 from the floor in the overtime period to secure the win.

Schlabach went 15-for-26 from the floor, 3-for-4 from beyond the arc and added six rebounds. Kaden Sand finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Logan Sand led all players with 10 rebounds. Bushnell (4-9, 2-4 CCC) shot 48% from the field and held the College of Idaho (11-3, 5-1) to 37% shooting on the night. However, the Yotes committed just five turnovers, while Beacons had 17.

"Stevie led us tonight offensively and we kept feeding him when we were needing a score," said Alexander. "Our true freshmen keep getting better and are quickly learning through fire."

Luke Smith hit a pair of go-ahead shots at the end of the second half, recording 13 points and seven rebounds. Jarrett Bryant added nine points as the pair of freshmen continued to see minutes in high-pressure moments.

Wyman led the Yotes with 23 points and nine rebounds.

Bushnell takes on Eastern Oregon tomorrow at 5 p.m. to open the new year.
