Men's Cross Country Closes Season at NAIA Championship

COMPLETE RESULTS

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Bushnell men's cross country team ended their 2021 campaign on Friday at the NAIA National Championship, taking place at Fort Vancouver.

Head Coach Tom Boldon said, "Our men's team is truly thankful to get the bid to nationals and experience that meet for the first time since 2018. It was a challenging day with some injuries and ailments, but everyone fought hard to finish the race to help the team in any way they could."

Leading the way for the Beacons was senior Linus Rueegger, taking 269th place (28:21.3). Freshman Noah Mancione followed in 273rd (28:24.2). "Linus led the way as he has almost every meet this year," said Boldon, "and Noah continues to have an amazing freshman season.

Senior Andrew Mitchell was the next across the finish line in 293rd (28:42.3), followed by Christopher Rosebrook (303rd, 29:10.7). Boldon said, "Christopher's start wasn't what he wanted, but he finished the second half of the race really strong."

Connor Woodcock (318th, 30:29.9). Gabe Fatooh rounded out the Bushnell contingent in 322nd (31:21.2).

The Beacons finished 36th in the race after having qualified with the host bid as the seventh-place team in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The College of Idaho was the highest-finishing CCC team, taking fifth place. They were followed closely by Lewis-Clark State in sixth. In all, four CCC schools finished in the top-14.

Boldon said, 'All in all, is was a good experience to race at a national meet and it planted the seed for next year's golf of getting back here. I am very proud of our team and know they persevered through a challenging season full of injury, quarantine, and sickness. Now they get to take a well deserved break before embarking on training for the track season."
