HELENA, Mont. – No. 7 Carroll College outscored the No. 22 ranked Beacon women's basketball team by nearly 40 points in the second half, pulling away for a 96-43 victory, in a game that showed some promising improvement early for Bushnell.
Â
The Beacons (0-3) were behind by 12 points after the first quarter but began to figure things out to stay in the game before the intermission. Head Coach
Chad Meadors said, "We are struggling to put the ball in the basket and we played an unbelievable team tonight. Carroll is a final four program that's got a chip on their shoulder. We made some strides defensively in the first half and we are going to focus on that. I am most proud that while we got drilled by a very good Carroll team, none of our kids quit, and our hearts are in the right place."
Â
Aspen Slifka led the way for the Beacons again, scoring 14 points while
Morgan McKinney added 11 points and nine rebounds.
Â
"The direction we are going in is the right direction," added Meadors. "We have a ton of work to do to get the momentum going in the other direction, and we will do it. We have the right people in the right room to do these things and I love that we have the opportunity to come out of the other side of this and show people who we are capable of being. If anything, we have learned over the first three weeks of our season what championship teams look like and we are learning what it takes to be one of those teams."
Â
Bushnell will regroup over the next eight days as they prepare to return home to face Pacific Union on Friday, November 19 at 2:30 pm.
