Warner Pacific Tops Beacons 1-0

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Bushnell University women's soccer team was shut out 1-0 by visiting Warner Pacific University in Saturday afternoon's Cascade Collegiate Conference match at the Les Schwab Sports Park.

Bushnell Head Coach Benny Flores said, "I am proud of the way the team played today! We just didn't capitalize on our opportunities. I felt we had a majority of the plays, but WPU made more plays than we did. I am excited for the continued development of the team."

It was a tightly contested battle between Bushnell (3-7, 1-4 CCC) and Warner Pacific (2-6, 1-4) in the first half as the Beacons held a 9-7 edge in shots at the break. The Knights scored in the 39th minute of play as Mikayla Dart found Alanna Smith near the right side of the goal area.

The Knights took control of the second half, outshooting the Beacons 12-4, while holding on to the shutout.

Emily Puita and Bella Hernandez finished with four shots each to lead the Beacons. Anabel Mendez recorded three saves.

Bushnell continues conference play on Friday, Oct. 8, taking on the Evergreen State College at the Les Schwab Sports Park.
